1992—Habitat for Humanity—Anchorage is chartered as an affiliate of HFH International
1992—First acquisition of property
1993—First Habitat home completed with the Fusilier family of six at 6610 10th Ave.
1995—The FedEx Pilots are the first House Sponsor on Myrtle Kent’s home on Tarwater Street. Fourteen people (including nine children) housed to date.
1998—First “Women Build” —a home built with the Todd family; sponsored and built primarily by women
1999—15th home— built with the Jimenez family and Interfaith Council. 69 people (incl. 44 children) housed to date.
2001—Energy Partnership formed to sponsor and build their first home with the Nolberto/Vasquez family.
2001—25th home—built with the Dargon family and sponsored by the Catholic Community & Providence Health Systems. 115 people (incl. 73 children) housed to date.
2001—Anchorage land value limits single family homes construction for Habitat. Habitat purchases land for multi-family homes at Bragaw and Peterkin.
2002—Brothers Under Construction sponsor the Nolan Howell Memorial House.
2003—Partner Families and sponsors build the first two condo/duplex Habitat homes.
2003—First Community House —allowing pooling of resources to sponsor a Habitat home. 197 people (incl. 128 children) housed to date.
2005—Jennifer Blake, a long-time Habitat volunteer, sponsors the Blake House as a memorial to her family—killed in a 2004 plane accident.
2005—GCI uses 50,000 recycled phone books for insulation in the Wells Fargo/GCI/AMBA house. 230 people (incl. 154 children) housed to date.
2006—Habitat to break ground on a 12 unit townhome community, including Habitat’s 50th home; begins year round building program.
